I decided in 1997 to find a russian speaking woman for a life partner. I guess I am a bit methodical in the way I do things but I decided I needed to learn some russian language some words and phrases to help me along, I even learned the russian alphabet and the sounds of each character in it. this helped me in pronunciation of words correctly and reading signs. this took about 3 years to accomplish. then I decided to find some ladies that might be interested in me. I picked several and wrote many letters and finally narrowed it down to about 5 with 1 being somewhat special to me prior to making the trip. It happened the 1st one I was most interested in was in the Ukraine. I finally made the trip after about 6 months of writing and finding we had a lot in common. When I first met her she was even more stunning than the pictures showed her to be; I did not choose a woman a great deal younger than me although I had offers for some even 30 years younger but I was skeptical and the choice for me was 12 years younger but looked even younger than that. It only took about one month and we knew we needed to be together. I did all the paperwork myself and brought her to the US and we were married early in 2002 and have been together about 8 years now. I am not the tall dark and handsome type of man, and she admits she would not have given much attention to a man in her country who looked like me, but admits that she loves me very much and would never leave me. when we are in public I can see the look men give and the expression on their faces wondering what she is doing with me. I think that being an american and the attraction of coming to america may be strong for some of these women, but this only opens the door for us guys who are not the tall, dark and handsome type that american women seem to want, and wonder why after 7 marriages they are still getting lemons; and we must follow that advantage of opening the door with trying to be good husbands to these ladies and they will want to stay with you forever. It is true most of the russian men are not good husbands and these ladies are mostly looking forward to a real man that sticks in good and bad times. you have to show by actions and not just words that you are that type, and you should have the woman you are looking for and not finding in the US. My wife has a friend that was married to her american man for 12 years and he started drinking heavy and abusing prescription medicine and lost his job. She still stuck with him and supported him until he threw her out of the house, she was forced to get an apartment and now she has two or three men sending flowers and trying to get close to her; he evens wants her back but she no longer trusts him. So guys dont chase the 20 year olds unless you are in your 30's and be realistic and you may find a good woman to care about you and stick in good and bad times and be the wife you really want. learning a little russian will show her you are sincere in your search and care about her, her world and history of her country. also I became a hero to her family and have visited her daughter and the grandchildren without the wife before and enjoyed it they are my family now. The last time I was there the wifes mother talked with me and I was able to talk to her and understand her; she thanked me several times for coming into her family and taking care of her daughter and the granddaughter and grandchildren. The mother died three months after that. My wife works and sends some money and presents to our family there. This has become long so I will end it now and hope I have shead some light on my life with a Russian lady. She is from the Ukraine but does not speak that language which is common in some regions of the Ukraine.
