When you read a common Internet agency or Dating site profile on any number of Russian girls how often have you seen the phrase, ?I want to make a happy family?. I?m willing to bet that you?ve seen this or a variation of it quite a few times. Now .. does it get any more obvious then this? These women did NOT say.. ?I want to be a liberated and sexually free woman who focuses on MY CAREER so that I can screw myself out of the most fertile years of my life and then go to an expensive pregnancy clinic covered by my health plan during my mid to late 30?s in order to try and get my older and deteriorating eggs artificially inseminated with some anonymous guy?s sperm de-thawed from a test tube.? Do you need me to continue with this wonderful illustration? I don?t think so.. Women who are in-touch with their inner ?baby making machinery? don?t mess around my friends. They want what you want too.. Love, Stability, Understanding, Sex, Good Future and Family.. AND they are more honest about it as well. Now this doesn?t mean that you are going to be able to Russia or the FSU and tell a girl like this right away that you love her ?so let?s get hitched and make babies now!? No but you will still need to play the game of love? And it?s there for a very good reason too. She needs to know you respect her BUT at the same time she needs to know that you are not afraid to be a leader who will keep the family ship on course come hell or high water. I had a good time both trips. My first trip in April lasted 30 days. I was only able to stay for 10 days the second trip in November. There was a noticeable change in attitude towards Americans on the second trip, no thanks to former president "butthead" Bush. Money: I took traveler's cheques the first time. They were a pain in the rear trying to find a bank that would agree to cash them. They will charge you a fee and then you lose money again on the exchange rate. I took cash the second time. Stopped at the ATM before leaving. They didn't like my money because it had marks on it. I had a hard time finding a bank that would exchange the $20 bills I got from the machine at home. Take only crisp, as new as possible $100 bills. You can use a credit card for everything if you travel only to Moscow or St. Petersburg, but you will pay exchange rate and international useage fees with most credit card companies. Transportation: Taxis are the most expensive even if you have a Russian to negotiate the fee. A taxi to and from the airport to my destination was about $180. Of course, that is traveling outside of Moscow. You can get a bus for about 200 rubles or about $7.00 from Tula to Moscow. A local "line" will cost you 10 rubles. Most trolley busses are between 8 and 12 rubles. You just have to know where it is going before you get on. They only travel certain routes. I didn't ride the metro in Moscow. Can't help you there. Food: Not much different in price from the U.S. for a decent meal. Expect to pay about 1000 rubles for dinner for two ($40). That includes such dishes as caviar, salmon, and drinks. Not bad really. I hope you like mayonnaise and vinegar. Parliament is the best vodka I ever drank. Avoid the samagoyne (moonshine). Lodging: I stayed at a private residence. Can't help you there either. I heard it was outrageous though. You won't find a Motel 6 in Moscow. The sights: Fabulous! Red Square, the art district, shopping centers, museums, cathedrals. Go to them all. Don't spend too much on the souvenirs. The most expensive item I bought was a fur cap for 1500 rubles. It was overpriced. Entry fees are reasonable, but you will pay extra to take photographs. It rains a lot. People on the street don't smile much. They are friendly though. Go to the countryside if possible. It is awesome. If your lady has a datcha, you will enjoy going there for shashlik and a relaxing time.

Jagguy, It really depends on where you live and what type of visa you want. I got a private homestay visa by sending the invitation letter (provided by my lady), a passport photo, my passport, the application letter for my region's consulate, the application fee, and return mailing to the Russian consulate in my region. All of the details are on the website, but it is difficult to figure out at first.

Yeah, I think that is correct. You must apply to the consulate in your home country does sound very familiar. I have gotten two visas to Russia in 2008, but I was in the U.S. both times I applied. That does sound familiar as though I read that somewhere at the Russian Consulate website.

Russia and Israel launch visa-free travel

Travelling from Russia to the Promised Land has never been easier - from September 20 those Russian citizens entering to Israel will no longer need visas. The deal was signed in March in the hope of expanding cultural and tourism ties between the two countries. Its expected the number of Russian tourists will increase. Israeli Tourism Minister Rukhama Abraham says: In 2007 we received 193,000 Russian tourists. By 2009 we expect that more than 400,000. Russians will be able to stay in Israel without a visa for 90 days, meaning they can take full advantage of the long summer and Israels beaches. But tour guides are also hoping for the more discerning cultural visitor. A tourist from Russia is looking for something to touch his soul, to see Israels sacred places and the religious sights. But of course he won't forget about normal secular life - and there are plenty of places to go, said Aleksey Zabludovsky, a tour guide. This all makes good business sense but the visa relaxation will also help people who travel for personal reasons. Almost one fifth of Israels population comes from the former Soviet Union and theyve welcomed the news. The reciprocal deal was signed back in March 2008. It was a big step for the two countries. Diplomatic ties between the two countries were severed following the six-day war in 1967. Real improvement was made when former Russian president Vladimir Putin visited three years ago. Now attention is firmly focused on the future.
