Bruce, on the brighter side. At least she will not get a conditional green card since you will have been married longer then two years. Then she can brag to her Russian friends about that. However these delays make it longer to get citizenship since the clock only starts ticking towards citizenship after they have done their part. I remember moving across town during her AOS and then having to drive to Boise a few months later ( a 5 hour drive) to make sure they had changed our address. They had not, but did so while I was standing at the desk asking about it. Why is the AOS in California if you live in New York? I would go to California myself before getting a lawyer. I know it not cheap but neither is a lawyer. At least you wife will see that you are doing something.

Since the case file is at the California Service Center and not at a district office, why on earth would you ever give advice for him to travel to California? Completely useless-unless you are also advising him to see Disneyland. Perhaps you can recommend tin-foil hats to the readers next. . . . I hope you didnt mishandle your own AOS that way. A little knowledge can be dangerous and you clearly have very little knowledge. Luck maybe, but knowledge?!?!??!?!

I'm more of a worker bee type at the USCIS. Although we do the lions share of the work there, we don't have any control over scheduling concerns. I do know that the West and the Southwest are the most super heavily burdened regions of immigration here. Just stay on top of them with status inquiries and keep the fees and all your current info. correct and updated. Don't worry about bothering them too much. They probably get as many status inquiries as anything else! They have teams just for that purpose. I do apologize for the waits, I can see its not easy, I wouldn't want that for myself and I could very well be in the same boat someday. I don't currently have a spouse or any prospects, but I've been looking abroad for over 2 years. If it is employment for your spouse that your also after, I believe that may sooner he granted than the green card, (ask for employment authorization). whitey

Whitey, thanks for giving us some inside information. I am sure you are a top worker there. Heck, I hope you take over the whole thing because at least you have an understanding about how it is stressful to our spouses. The key is fairness. If everyone knew in X amount of time unless they receive Y letter for Z problem they will take W time to process there would be no problem. When Sally gets processed in three months and Jane gets processed in three years, and they talk, you have a huge problem, which is the case. Well, today we did the congressional inquiry thing. I am not sure it will get us far. We are just building up evidence for the lawsuit that will occur if nothing positive shakes out in the next six weeks. One more trip to the BCINS at that time
A man who has not failed has done nothing.

Your welcome, Bruce. A top worker? Well.. you know.. I try not to brag but I bet I'm in the top 5% of all-time good workers there! I hope I can help anybody in some small way. Good luck with your pursuit. Don't give up, and remember your not alone. whitey

With "top workers" like Whitey Mo, no wonder USCIS is in a shambles. Anyone who doesn't know the difference between the possessive pronoun "your" and the contraction "you're" really doesn't give me much confidence in the ability of the USCIS to do anyting. You are a fraud. You are also probably black and uneducated. If you are truly an example of the people who work at USCIS, we may as well give up all hope of ever acccomplishing anything in our cases. It is no wonder there is such a backlog of cases. We put the stupidest people in charge of reading and handling the documents when they do not have the ability to read and write to begin with.
